Coloring Contest Birthday Invites

About three months ago Cali started telling me that she wanted to host a coloring contest. She went into all the details of how she would invite all the friends and neighbors and award them prizes and have snacks for them and on and on. It sounded fun and all but also a lot of work to do "just because." Well now her birthday is coming up and I've seen so many fun art themed party ideas online and I thought she would just love an art party. Then I remembered her coloring contest idea and thought a-ha! So she is going to have her coloring contest as her birthday party!

Here are the clever invitations we came up with.

First I went into Word and created the invitation using a little clipart and changing the font colors for each section. The border was done by layering increasing sizes of the rounded rectangle shape. Just change the background to "none" and keep changing colors and increasing the size of each shape.

We also did a Google Image search for "girl birthday six coloring page" and found the perfect coloring page for each guest to color for the contest.

Now with school just starting and all those papers piling up on the kitchen counters I thought I needed a special place for our guests to keep and protect their precious coloring pages so they don't get lost or damaged before party time. This also helps for the families who have more than one child attending, so some folders have two coloring pages inside. I picked up some brightly colored file folders for a couple dollars to complete the ensemble.

So that's it, just a homemade invite, paperclip, folder, and coloring page. Can't wait to see the colored pages when our guests arrive!

More on the party coming up next, including the homemade award ribbons and party treats.
