Snowy Tuesday!

The original "Snow Day" post was just our excitement over the snow that started falling around 8am. Here is more from our fun, snowy day. We had huge, fluffy flakes falling all day long!

This was on a Tuesday and by Wednesday afternoon there was nothing but melting blobs of snowmen left. Today (Saturday) was sunny and mid-60s.

Snow Day!!

Remember our beautiful, sunny Sunday?... they really weren't kidding about the winter storm warning! This was all before 9am.

I debated whether to take Cali to school and glad I decided not too, not just for the road conditions but so she could enjoy it and play with us in it too!

Pancake/Muffins

One of those... why didn't I think of that? ideas. Read this in the paper yesterday.

Scoop your usual pancake batter into muffin cups. Bake at 350F 10-15 min.* They don't really brown up like they would on the griddle but taste pretty good just the same. Serve favorite syrup on the side for dipping.

*I used a mini-muffin pan and baked for 10 min.

You could easily make a large batch and freeze them for quick an easy weekday breakfasts.

Beautiful Day for a Birthday

The last three weeks we have had one nice day per week, this week it came on Sunday and it was just a beautiful day. D spent his birthday...

and finally bath and bed.

I never bypass naptime but it was so beautiful out that I just couldn't justify driving them home to nap while all that sun was shining. Besides there is a cold front on the way and winter storm advisory already issued for tonight!

Happy Birthday, Silly Boy

He still loves to laugh! You can tickle him until he can barely breathe, then he asks for more.

Yoda Chocolate Cake

For six months now Diego has insisted that he wanted a "Yoda chocolate cake" meaning of course a chocolate cake with Yoda on top. He saw Yoda on a poster one time and ever since has really liked him although he knows nothing of the Star Wars movies or really what/who Yoda is. I made my Darn Good Chocolate Cake with White Chocolate Frosting and found the perfect big bobble-head Yoda to put on top.

On Monday the kids were about to drive me crazy and we'd just been stuck inside for too long. I made an impromptu decision we just had to get out of the house and not to any of the usual places either. We went to a really fun indoor play area and had hours of fun while eating great food too! I even got a few extra hugs out of the deal :)

Security Envelopes

My friend Alexandra at Art, Scrap & More has issued a new Scrap-Rendezvous challenge: use the inner lining from all those business envelopes you get in the mail! What a great way to get me to dig through the mail.. not one of my favorite jobs. Someone should have told me a long time ago to look in there for scrapbooking papers!

Sunny Saturday

After enduring another week of wet, cold, and wind (with a threat of snow tossed in) the sun come back out again for our Saturday. I jumped on the chance to go for a run and afterward while I did my stretches while the kids played out front which involved bringing out a pile of blankets and animals. Cali said they were just going to sit and "enjoy the view".... "Mommy, what does 'view' mean?"

On our one sunny day last weekend, we got out and played at a park and threw rocks in the creek nearby. We've been back inside ever since with more wet, cold, windy weather...and now the forecast is calling for 100% chance of SNOW tomorrow... all day long!

The Sun Came Out...

For one day, the sun came out. More rain and cold weather (40s) forecast for the rest of the week so we took advantage of that one day and headed to a favorite creek to just run and play and let the kids throw rocks to their little hearts' content.

Then we came home and Mommy did another load of laundry :)

Happy Birthday

Just wanted to wish my dearest husband a very Happy Birthday today and do what I can to send my love across all those miles. I love you forever Davey.
