Fish Tail Braid
Another mom at storytime was showing us how to do this the other day. It's way easier than you might think and it was fun for me to learn a new way to do Cali's hair. Instead of trying to explain it I'll just direct you to one of many Youtube tutorials here. I didn't use mousse and this had been in for about 5 hours at this point so it's starting to get messy.

52 Weeks, Sketch #39
Another great sketch site recommended by my friend Vanessa. Loved this weeks and you might have noticed I just love this picture right now. Bottom journaling reads "... not that I'm biased or anything."

Drawing
I've had a lot of fun watching Cali draw all sorts of new things lately. She's really branched out from just doing people to what seems like something brand new every day... cats, pumpkins, sting rays, pizzas, snakes... She has really surprised me. I think it's really cute and kind of funny how she will put the same cute smiley faces on things like jellyfish and snakes as she does people.

One Picture Four Ways
Grandma requested a new fridge magnet of this picture while she was here. Went ahead and made one for a few other special people (who are probably reading this blog right now)... and one for myself too of course!

Zoo Day
I told Cali a long long time ago we would go to the zoo for her birthday when Grandma was here. She was really looking forward to it and it turned out to be a great day for it. A little on the hot side still but there are enough buildings with A/C and shady spots it wasn't too bad. We also got to see the new Orangutan exhibit for the first time which was really fun with a big rope swinging area, horse statues, an orangutan statue, and the coolest chimes built into the ground.

*************************************************************************************
Are you the Mom who's always taking pictures and look back only to realize you aren't IN any of them? Do your kids look through photo albums and ask "Where were you Mommy?" Well, Carin over at Forever in Blue Jeans decided to change all that and challenges any one who's interested to do the same. So hand over the camera, or at least figure out the self-timer and get on the other side of the lens more often. Post your photos of you enjoying time with your family every Thursday and share the link with other Mom's by posting it on Carin's blog. You can start any time with week 1 of 52, don't worry about being "behind" just jump on in.
