Saturday night I took the kids to the local fair. We have been every year since Cali was almost one, its nothing much but it's something different to do and see. The kids love the rides and the cotton candy...
The Good
When we got to the fairgrounds there was a large, dark cloud looming. I really hoped it would blow off the other way. We looked at some rides then decided to get a treat first. The only cotton candy they had was in huge warehouse club size bags and I convinced them that was way too much for us, even if we shared it. We settled on ice cream instead.

The Bad
Finished the ice cream, did a quick potty break for D, then as we stepped out the drops started to fall. Big fat raindrops falling faster and faster.. we were about 50 yards from the livestock building so we ran that way, Cali still holding the bottom half of her ice cream cone. The cone got wet but she was pretty much done anyway so no worries. We were stuck in the livestock area for awhile, just a bunch of goats in there and a petting zoo so we did all that. Made a dash over to the vendors hall next and visited with my friend Angela who sells Tastefully Simple goodies.

More Good
Realized the rain was letting up so we went back out, got some chicken tenders and fried pickles then HAD to do some rides. All was fun and good and we managed through the rainy bit just fine.

The Ugly
Earlier on Vanessa had called from the parking lot to tell me they had just arrived, it was pouring rain and the parking lot was all muddy (it was in a field). They decided not to get out. At that point I thought man we will get all muddy walking back to the car, oh well. What I didn't think was "Gee, how will I get my little Toyota Camry out of a giant mud pit while driving uphill?" but I sure thought it as soon as I saw the mess and watched a handfull of trucks try and fail miserably to drive up the muddy incline to the exit. First things first though. There was no way I could push our Jeep umbrella stroller through this mess and no way I wanted the kids to walk through it, and no way I could hold two kids and a stroller at the same time. So I looked for the nearest person and asked for help. The nice young gentleman quickly agreed to carry the stroller and offered to carry a kid but neither one of them wanted to climb on a stranger's back. So we set off, a kid on each hip, in my flimsy flip flops and made it to the car alright. Turns out the guy was waiting for a tow truck to pull his truck out. There was a truck out there helping people out for free so at least I had that as a back up plan. So he went back to tend to his truck and I looked around thinking what in the world do I do next, there is no way my Camry can make it through these huge ruts. I see somewhat of a path over grass, it just happens to be where the flag ropes are to mark off parking rows. I go over and pull the stake out of the ground so I can drive that way. I comandeer another gentleman to guide me and perhaps push if need be, his friend comes over too. I make it out of the spot, drive really close to the other cars, cut across the rope flag I pulled down then over two rows to a hill that hasn't been destroyed yet. The gentleman held up the next set of flags so I could drive under. Then I just hoped with all hope my little Camry could make it the rest of the way up and around the corner out to solid road. I did it! The car did it! I was so happy!!! So proud of my Camry, I love that car and now not only for its incredible trunk space! As I drove off I was thinking man I wish I had a picture of that parking lot, so when I got home I took pictures of the evidence instead.

And yes I know my shoes are falling apart, they are supposed to, they are biodegradable.
