Yeah, the monkey zoo :-) It's called the "Apenheul". One of my sisters refuses to go there, since she's afraid the monkeys will just jump on her. They won't, they've actually trained the monkeys to stay away from visitors as much as possible. In the free ranging monkey areas there are keepers with little spray bottles, just in case. The people in the netherlands isn't as litigious as the U.S., but still.
A gorilla broke free in a zoo in Rotterdam and mauled a lady? The zoo wasn't prosecuted, because the dept. of Justice thought they'd done everything to prevent it? Apparently the lady (a regular visitor) had been making eye contact with the gorilla, and freaked him out. Some people blame her?
Crazy about the gorilla. I thought that was so neat about the monkey zoo, definitely wouldn't find that in the States these days.
